Fish Curry Recipe - These Are The Basics

Frying your fish is also a popular way to cook your fish for dinner. The good thing about frying your fish is that you can pick many different kinds of seasonings to put on your fish to fry it. When you begin frying your fish, you should cook it evenly on both sides of the fillet. The one thing that you should understand is each side of the fish will not take the same time amount of time to cook. The first side will usually take longer because it is also cooking the inside as well as the outside.

Deep fried fish is usually battered, then gently lowered into 375 degree oil and cooked for about 4 minutes per side, turning once and carefully.

I have been cooking fish since I was a child with my Grandfather. I remember going out early in the morning to catch some salmon for the evening dinner. I found a great recipe book that has a lot of the same recipes that he used to use.

Trout Dinner Recipe

4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons minced onion
Garlic clove, minced
1 cup white rice
2 cups chicken stock
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped parsley
3 tablespoons slivered, sun dried oil-packed tomatoes
1 lemon, juiced
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 pounds whole trout, boned

In a large heavy skillet, melt 3 tablespoons butter... add the onion, garlic, and rice, saute with medium-low heat, stirring continuously until the rice is golden.

Add chicken and salt. Stir, cover, and cook until all the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat; stir in the parsley, tomatoes, lemon juice and grated lemon peel.

Place the fish in the dish and butter both sides and put in oven.

Place rice inside the trout. Cover the surrounding rice with aluminum foil, leaving the fish exposed. Bake for about 10 minutes per inch thickness.

Here are some cooking and buying tips to get you started:

* Rub lemon juice on fish before cooking. This will help the fish maintain its color and add to its flavor.
* Make sure that the butter is extra hot but not yet burning.
* Olive oil or a combination of oil and butter will give the fish a tasty crispness.
* If the fish has been properly cooked, the meat will appear opaque but will still be moist.
