Cabazon Fish Recipes - Cooking Fish How To
Fish is a heart healthy, lean meat which is full of protein and those valuable essential oils. You won't find much heart disease in cuisines which rely on fish. Eating fish at least a couple of times a week can indeed, lead to longevity. Some of us are unaccustomed to preparing fish, and may shy away from cooking fish, but it is a very tasty and healthy meal that should be prepared often.
If you soak the fish in water with a little vinegar before baking it, it will turn out to be sweeter, more tender and hold its shape better. Another tip is to marinate the fish fillets in salt and lemon before baking. This makes them easier to handle and gives a fresh taste and firmer flesh.

Fish can be prepared using almost any type of cooking method. From baking, steaming, frying, grilling, broiling, or slow cooking. When cooking fish, it is important not to overcook, which will result in dry and somewhat tasteless meat. A general rule is to cook a fish 10 minutes for each inch of thickness. (not be used for deep frying or microwaving fish) The fish should be cooked until it has reached an internal temperature of at least 145ºF.
Here is another one of my favorite fish recipes.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 pounds fresh or frozen halibut 2 teaspoons vegetable oil 3/4 cup bread crumbs 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese 1 tablespoon of fresh tarragon, snipped or 1/2 teaspoon dried crushed tarragon 1/2 teaspooon paprika A dash of pepper
Preheat oven to 450ºF.
Cut thawed fish into four portions, then pat dry and brush with cooking oil.
Stir together bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, tarragon, paprika and pepper. Dip fish into crumb mixture to coat both sides. Sprinkle any leftover crumb mixture on top.
Bake fish, uncovered for 8 to 12 minutes in a hot oven, until fish flakes easily with a fork. Do not turn over while baking.
I like to serve with fresh lemon wedges.
Usually I catch my own fish to cook, but occasionally I go and buy in from the store. There are many things to keep in mind when buying and cooking fish. Below are some tips for you to remember...
* You can place fish directly on the grill, but if you do this, use a firm fleshed fish, like grouper, tuna, swordfish, or salmon.
* To steam fish, put it in a steamer over boiling water and make sure you use a tight fitting lid.
* Never use water from close proximity marinas, municipal or industrial discharges, always use potable water.
